专辑介绍:
巴赫的大提琴曲对任何一位大提琴家来说都算得上是曲目中的最高峰。Philip Higham决定忠于巴赫原曲。他选择从巴赫妻子安娜·玛格达丽娜·巴赫的原作手稿复制品中寻求答案。尽管如此，对Higham来说，重新参考巴赫手稿不是对其权威的挑衅，而是为了更加深入地了解原作以便更好地演绎。
他敢于打破已有的框架，在演奏和选择乐器时兼顾古典和现代风格。一把1697年产的大提琴演奏组曲的前五首。而另一把2013年产的五弦大提琴奏出那音域广阔的第六首组曲，这首也是巴赫最为得意的作品之一。

艺术家介绍:
菲利普·海勒姆（Philip Higham）正在迅速崛起，成为英国最杰出的年轻大提琴家之一。菲利普1985年出生于爱丁堡，在圣玛丽音乐学校跟随露丝·博坎普学习大提琴，并在皇家北方音乐学院跟随艾玛-费兰和拉尔夫-柯什鲍姆继续学习。他于2007年以一级荣誉毕业，并立即被选为国际艺术家文凭学生。2010年，他成为首批被邀请参加皇家爱乐协会/YCAT菲利普-兰格里奇指导计划的艺术家之一，与史蒂文-伊瑟里斯一起学习。2010年，他在柏林举行的伊曼纽尔-费尔曼大奖赛中获得二等奖，成为历代英国大提琴家中第一个在三大国际比赛中获得大奖的人，包括2008年莱比锡巴赫大赛和2009年卢托斯拉夫斯基大赛的一等奖。2009年，他被青年古典艺术家信托基金（YCAT）选为代表。
