Ronaldo Miranda is a multi-award-winning Brazilian composer whose works have been commissioned by leading artists and institutions. His music is regularly performed in prestigious venues in Brazil and around the world. Miranda’s Piano Concerto is a virtuoso blend of atonality and echoes of Bartók, contrasting with the flowing scales and delicate patterns of the Concertino. The award-winning "Horizontes" is a symphonic poem that tells the story of Christopher Columbus’s voyage to the New World, while "Variações Temporais" ("Beethoven Revisitado") is an imaginative set of variations on some of Ludwig van Beethoven’s most famous motifs and themes. Eduardo Monteiro is considered one of the greatest pianists on the Brazilian scene and achieved international acclaim after winning First Prize and the Special Jury Prize for Best Beethoven Interpretation at the 1989 Cologne International Piano Competition. Fabio Mechetti has been the orchestra’s Artistic Director and Chief Conductor since its founding. Under his leadership, the orchestra has received numerous awards, recorded nine albums, and undertaken a tour of South America. He is Chief Conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and led the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra for 14 years, where he is now Conductor Laureate.
