This album features live recordings captured in various churches and concert halls, each contributing unique acoustic properties to the music. The opening track is Johann Sebastian Bach’s Prélude BWV 998, a masterpiece originally intended for harpsichord or lute. Erliha brings this piece to life on a variety of guitars, showcasing its rich harmonic development across different tones.
The album also includes Sylvius Leopold Weiss’ Passagaille, performed on a 13-string guitar, and Bach’s Ciaccona, one of the most emotionally profound compositions in music history. Fernando Sor’s Marlbrough s’en va-t-en guerre, featuring five variations on a popular theme, highlights Sor’s lasting influence on guitar music. The album concludes with Manuel Maria Ponce’s vibrant Concierto del Sur, recorded with the Zürich University of the Arts symphony orchestra under the direction of Jens Lohmann. 1.
